Out of the Corner of Your Eye

Out of the corner of my eye, I see a man.

He is leaning against the upstairs railing, just atop the stairs in the non-fiction section. He is looking down, just casually leaning on the railing, with a hand dangling over the rail.

When I look to see who is looking down on us, I see nothing.

There is no man standing there. There is nothing wrong with my eyes. I could feel someone looking at me.  Out of the corner of my eye, I could discern that he wore black and was standing upstairs, leaning on the rail.  You know that feeling.... that feeling that someone is watching you. You then look up. Normally, you see who is looking at you.

What is it you see, out of the corner of your eye, when no one is there?

  1. This is an area of the library that makes my hair stand on end. As I move up the stairs, the hairs on my neck stand up and I get a tightness in my chest, and a light-headed feeling. I feel like I must move from the area quickly. Perhaps this is the man you are seeing influencing my reactions...?
